Here Come the Girls – To Pontypridd!

30th March, 2009

The big news for the summer has just been announced by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council with the return of Ponty's Big Weekend July 18-19, and topping the bill will be the multi platinum album selling, Brit Award winning girl band the Sugababes - the girls are coming to Pontypridd!

Ponty's Big Weekend features music, comedy and family entertainment that attracted thousands of people to Ynysangharad Park last year. This year's event will take place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July and is expected to be even bigger and better, encouraging a larger crowd than last year when Rhydian headlined, with a special free concert being held on the Sunday.

Saturday's headliners are the Sugababes who have had 16 top ten singles in the UK, and topped the charts in 15 countries worldwide. Sunday features a star studded line up that includes BBC Last Choir Standing Winners Only Men Aloud, renowned Opera singer Sian Cothi, plus many more acts to be announced shortly.

Ponty's Big Weekend really put Pontypridd on the map last year and the stellar line-up for 2009 gives everyone something to look forward to this summer.

The Sunday event is free and the Sugababes ticket price on the Saturday is £10 Only.  High demand is expected for both days, and everyone is advised to get hold of their tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets for Saturday's Sugababes concert cost £10, tickets for Sundays concerts are free and both are available now by contacting the Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd, on 01443 485934, The Coliseum, Aberdare, on 01685 881188 or The Park and Dare Theatre, Treorchy on 01443 773112.
